Job description, responsibilities and duties

The Planning Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating planning activities to ensure the timely and efficient flow of materials and production schedules in support of business objectives. This role oversees a team of planners, drives planning performance, manages inventory and supply-demand balance, and collaborates closely with manufacturing, procurement, logistics, and sales teams to achieve customer service and operational targets.

• Lead and supervise daily planning activities to ensure material availability and production continuity.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize production and supply plans based on customer demand and capacity constraints.
• Monitor demand forecasts and adjust plans to align with changing business requirements.
• Ensure planning parameters and master data are maintained accurately within ERP/MRP systems.

Team Leadership

• Manage, coach, and develop a team of planners.
• Set performance objectives and provide regular feedback and support.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate workload distribution and resource planning within the team.

Inventory & Supply Chain Management

• Monitor inventory levels and drive actions to achieve inventory targets while maintaining service levels.
• Identify supply risks, material shortages, and capacity constraints, and lead mitigation activities.
• Collaborate with procurement and suppliers to ensure timely material availability.
• Support inventory optimization initiatives and excess/obsolete inventory reduction.

Performance Management

• Track and report key planning KPIs, including service level, on-time delivery, inventory turns, backlog, forecast accuracy, and schedule adherence.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for planning-related issues.
• Drive continuous improvement projects to enhance planning processes and system utilization.
